A green T in the sixth tile is common — T closes 163 of this site’s 1,485 accepted guesses — so the real information lives in position five. The current data has 163 six-letter words ending in T, and four families (-ET, -NT, -ST, -CT) account for 105 of them.
Quick choices from the T list
No-repeat examples in the site’s answer pool include silent, parent, forest, honest, modest, bright, priest, spirit, and weight. If the board permits a duplicate, the pool also contains street, accent, effect, moment, resist, and carrot. Inclusion in the answer pool does not predict an official answer anywhere else.

Filter 6 letter words ending in T
Narrow the final-T data by the previous letter, required or excluded letters, vowel count, repeats, and letter-coverage score. Filtering runs in your browser.

Tip: click a result to copy it. Yellow constraints require the letter but ban it from the positions you list. If the same letter is yellow twice, set its minimum count to 2.
The fifth letter does most of the narrowing
The static file has 163 entries: 88 use six different letters and 75 repeat at least one letter. Counting A/E/I/O/U, six entries have one vowel, 140 have two, and 17 have three.
| Ending | Entries | No repeated letter | In this site’s answer pool |
|---|---|---|---|
| -ET | 34 | 20 | 16 |
| -NT | 28 | 13 | 14 |
| -ST | 26 | 16 | 15 |
| -CT | 17 | 7 | 11 |
| -IT | 14 | 10 | 7 |
| -HT | 10 | 9 | 8 |
| -RT | 10 | 3 | 5 |
The remaining 24 records spread across -OT, -LT, -UT, -PT, -AT, and the single -XT entry, admixt — the only X in the file.
Four grammar families in one ending
Each big group has its own logic. -NT is the adjective corner: absent, decent, silent, urgent, vacant, potent all describe rather than act. -ST collects superlatives — eldest, latest, lowest, oldest, truest — plus stand-alone words like forest and honest. -CT is almost pure Latin verb: detect, direct, expect, inject, reject, select. And every one of the ten -HT records spells the ending -GHT: from alight to weight, with caught, fought, sought, taught covering the irregular past tenses.
This matters for probing. A yellow N or S late in the word points at big families with many members still alive; a yellow G near the end almost certainly means -GHT, which is a nine-tenths solved position pattern (only 10 candidates, 9 of them with six distinct letters).
Doubled letters before a final T
24 records double a letter side by side, led by RR with six entries: arrest, carrot, ferret, irrupt, parrot, turret. LL adds four (ballot, fillet, mallet, wallet), FF three (affect, effect, offset), and SS three (assist, assort, basset). If duplicate feedback shows up with a green final T, the RR and LL families are the first place to look — all ten of those words keep the double in positions 2–4.
Coverage picks with the last tile fixed
By this site’s letter-coverage score, the strongest six-distinct-letter entries are ardent (97), recast (94), argent (93), parent (93), and recant (93). They probe A, R, E, and N together, which is exactly the split the -NT and -ST families need. The score is a coverage heuristic inside this data version, not an answer probability.
Worked filter: two candidates from three clues
Suppose the final T is green, R was yellow in position 2, and E and S are both confirmed gray, with repeats ruled out. Enter:
- Yellow letters: R:2
- Exclude letters: ES
- Repeated letters: No repeated letters
Against the current 163-record file, exactly two candidates survive: adroit and import. Both keep R away from position 2 and contain neither E nor S. The result is reproducible in the finder above, and any probe of A or I settles it.
Using the list outside Wordle
For crosswords, the ending families map directly onto clue grammar: a superlative clue points to -ST, a “describes” clue to -NT, an action verb to -CT. For spelling practice, the -GHT block is the classic irregular set, and this file happens to hold all ten of its six-letter members.

Frequently asked questions
How many six-letter words ending in T are in this list?
The current accepted-guess data contains 163 six-letter words ending in T. Of those, 85 also appear in this site's 682-word answer pool.
Which letter most often comes before the final T?
E leads with 34 -ET records, followed by N with 28 -NT records and S with 26 -ST records. C adds 17 -CT records, mostly Latin verbs like direct and detect.
What is special about the H group in this data?
All ten records with H in position five end in -GHT: alight, aright, bright, caught, flight, fought, slight, sought, taught, and weight. A yellow G or H near the end is a strong pointer to that family.
How should I filter after a green final T?
Test the fifth position first — E, N, S, and C alone cover 105 of the 163 records. Enter yellow letters with their forbidden positions, exclude confirmed gray letters, and use count bounds only when duplicate feedback proves them.
