A green Y in the sixth tile fixes the ending, but the fifth tile still divides the list into very different groups. The current data has 113 six-letter words ending in Y, led by 37 -LY entries, 13 -TY entries, and 12 -RY entries. Use the previous-letter control first when that position is known.
Quick choices from the Y list
No-repeat examples in the site’s answer pool include agency, beauty, comply, crafty, donkey, easily, family, guilty, midway, mighty, modify, nearby, safety, steady, stormy, theory, verify, and widely. If the board permits a duplicate, the same pool also contains cherry, deadly, deeply, energy, freely, greedy, likely, pretty, quarry, really, supply, treaty, and valley.
These are candidates to compare with the board or clue. Inclusion in the site’s answer pool does not predict an official answer.

The previous letter does most of the narrowing
The three largest endings account for 62 of the 113 records:
| Ending | Entries | No repeated letter | In this site’s answer pool |
|---|---|---|---|
| -LY | 37 | 18 | 26 |
| -TY | 13 | 9 | 10 |
| -RY | 12 | 6 | 4 |
The next largest group is -EY with nine entries, followed by -HY and -SY with five each. A green L before Y therefore leaves a much broader set than a green H or S. The clue or other tile feedback must do more work inside the -LY branch.
Do not infer meaning from the last two letters alone. Family, comply, and supply end in -LY but do not behave like adverbs; beauty, entity, and safety share -TY while answering different kinds of clues. The grouped list supplies structure, while the clue supplies meaning.
Vowels and repeats use a Y-specific definition
The JSON counts A, E, I, O, and U as vowels. It does not add Y to that field, even when Y carries a vowel sound. Under that method, 40 entries have one vowel, 68 have two, and five have three. The five three-vowel entries are airily, airway, augury, beauty, and easily.
The repeat split is close: 65 words use six different letters and 48 repeat a character. Compare no-repeat choices such as agency, barley, beauty, crafty, donkey, mighty, poetry, safety, and theory with repeated forms such as anyway, cherry, deadly, energy, freely, pretty, quarry, and valley. Choose the repeat setting from feedback rather than treating one group as universally better.
Example: final LY with E and R ruled out
Suppose Y is green at the end, L is green before it, E and R are gray, and no duplicate has appeared. Choose previous letter L, enter ER under Excludes, and select no repeats. The current file leaves:
bodily, comply, costly, family, mostly
Those five share the same edge pattern but have different meanings. A crossword definition or another positioned tile is needed to finish the choice. The coverage score can compare letter testing; it does not assign answer odds.

Match the tool to the clue
For Wordle-style feedback, use this page after Y is confirmed in position six. Put yellow letters in Contains, gray letters in Excludes, and select the fifth character if it is green. If Y is yellow rather than green, do not assume it belongs at the end.
For crosswords, the word list can enforce length and known letters, but the definition remains decisive. A clue for agency will not be solved by the same reasoning as one for yearly, even though both end in Y.

Frequently asked questions
What is the largest final-Y group?
The -LY group has 37 entries. -TY has 13, -RY has 12, and -EY has nine.
Does the vowel filter count Y?
No. It counts A, E, I, O, and U. That is why consonant-heavy entries such as partly or stormy appear in the one-vowel group.
How many entries have no repeated letters?
Sixty-five use six different letters; 48 contain a repeat. Use the board’s feedback to decide which set applies.
Is every word in the finder an official answer?
No. The finder separates the full candidate data from the site’s maintained answer pool, and neither label predicts a future official answer.
